Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG
A classic Tuscan red wine primarily based on the Sangiovese “Prugnolo Gentile” grape variety. The wine has a Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita status. It was the first DOCG wine to appear on the Italian market in 1980.
In the 16th century pope’s cellar master defined Montepulciano’s wine as “vino perfettissimo” while Redi is famous for writing “Montepulciano is of all wines The King” in his Bacco in Toscana in 1685.
The consortium Vino Nobile di Montepulciano was founded in 1965 with the aim of protecting and promoting the image of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano in Italy and abroad.
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a red elegant age worthy wine, thanks to acidity and pronounced tannins. This wine is made from Sangiovese, not to be confused with Montepulciano d’Abruzzo made from the Montepulciano grape.

In the times of a pandemic, when you cannot fly out to experience new cities, a virtual wine tour with Sylvia is what I needed. Her knowledge on the wine and history, her story telling and live videos of Montepulciano made me feel, like I was in Italy for a brief moment. Loved it! Thank you, Sylvia!
