Virtual Noble Wine Tasting Experience
Italy has been in lockdown since March 9. Since then I have been “home alone” in Montepulciano without any physical contact with other people.
As a sommelier I continued studying and learning about wine on my next WSET level 3 course.
From May 4 the Covid-19 are somewhat eased. To protect ourselves we must maintain social distancing, wear masks and gloves in supermarkets and shops.
On May 18 museums, bars, restaurants, shops and libraries will reopen.
The winery that I work with will reopen mid June respecting social distancing rules and only permitting a limited number of visitors.
I hope to see you soon online!
Virtual Noble Wine Tasting
Now again I would like to share my knowledge of wine from the winery through this Virtual Noble Wine Tasting.
During this online experience I will be in the wine cellar of Gattavecchi.

While you are at home, I am in the wine cellar of Gattavecchi.
I start telling you about the story of the winery and the wine Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG.
By tasting the wine Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG I will describe the characters, flavors and aromas.
I will show you the Slavonian oak barrels, the views and the vineyards by a video I have made.
Meet also the winemaker and ask him whatever you want to know about Vino Nobile wine.
The front label of the bottle has a lot of interesting information as well. The illustrations on the label display the main square in Montepulciano “Piazza Grande” and the Griffon.
We are in Montepulciano and I’ll make sure you learn something more about this amazing Sangiovese based wine!
The virtual Experience includes
Description of the wine and environment video images
- Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG
- Short movies about Montepulciano and the winery
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG
A classic Tuscan red wine based primarily on the Sangiovese “Prugnolo Gentile” grape variety. The wine has a Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita status. It was the first DOCG wine to appear on the Italian market in 1980.
In the 16th century pope’s cellar master defined Montepulciano’s wine as “vino perfettissimo” while Redi is famous for writing “Montepulciano is of all wines The King” in his Bacco in Toscana in 1685.
The consortium Vino Nobile di Montepulciano was found in 1965 with the aim of protecting and promoting the image of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano in Italy and abroad.
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a red elegant age worthy wine, thanks to acidity and pronounced tannins. This wine is made from Sangiovese, not to be confused with Montepulciano d’Abruzzo made from the Montepulciano grape.
Prepare for the virtual Noble wine tasting
I would love to have you visit us through a virtual wine tasting at the wine cellar of Gattavecchi.
It would be useful to actually taste the same type of wine for a better understanding of the characteristics I try to explain you.
Eventually you can book the wine in advance (at least 1 case of 6 bottles).
I will use the application Zoom for the virtual tours to connect with the participants that have signed up.
The live stream will be in English.
When you click the link in your confirmation email and join my experience, make sure your audio and video are on so you can ask questions along the way.
