Tenuta Poggio alla Sala

Tenuta Poggio alla Sala

The historical wine estate Tenuta Poggio alla Sala is nestled between cypress trees and olive groves in a beautiful landscape in Montepulciano.

Tenuta Poggio alla Sala includes vineyards, olive groves, small farmhouses and a main farmhouse with villa situated at the summit.

History

Here you can breathe a mystic atmosphere. This is the place where the Etruscans once lived. Some Etruscan remains are found by archaeologists at Tenuta Poggio alla Sala. These objects are now exhibited in a museum.

The villa and domain belonged to the noble family Bonci Casuccini. For his wines and olive oils he received wide recognition and several awards.

The 19th century villa at Tenuta Poggio alla Sala hosts a resort, wellbeing centre and restaurant.

Harvesting is in September – October. The grapes are picked by hand to select the best bunches or grapes.

Enjoy reading my blog post: Hand picking the grapes.
